On the occasion of its first participation in Beirut Art Fair, from 17 to 20 September 2019, Galerie La La Lande presents a selection of works by Slimen Elkamel, Aïcha Snoussi, Halim Karabibene, Rachid Koraïchi, and Sonia Ben Slimane.
Through this selection, the gallery brings together a range of contemporary practices emerging from the North African and Mediterranean art scenes. Slimen Elkamel’s works draw on folk narratives and rural memory to create images in which fiction and reality intertwine. Aïcha Snoussi, in turn, develops organic, fictional worlds shaped by ideas of metamorphosis, the archive, and imagined territories.
Halim Karabibene’s practice explores the tensions between urban space, materiality, and abstraction through a sensitive approach to drawing and painting. Rooted in spirituality, calligraphy, and the transmission of knowledge, Rachid Koraïchi’s works unfold a distinctive symbolic language at the intersection of cultures and temporalities. Finally, Sonia Ben Slimane examines representations of the body, identity, and femininity through compositions that combine delicacy with evocative power.
