La La Lande Gallery is pleased to participate in 1-54 New York for the first time, from 1 to 4 May 2024, with a solo presentation of works by Aïcha Snoussi.
Aïcha Snoussi's practice explores notions of identity and challenges the validity of established norms and systems of classification through drawings and installations that intertwine fiction and archival material. By deliberately blurring the boundaries between reality and invention, she reveals the vestiges and traces of histories she has imagined, developing a personal mythology that resonates with contemporary issues such as gender identity and migration while drawing upon deeply intimate references. Her work reflects on the relationship between drawing, objects, history, memory, and ruins—on what remains—through organic and poetic compositions that often engage in a site-specific dialogue with the spaces they inhabit.
