On the occasion of the 2022 edition of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair London, held from 13 to 16 October in London, we presented a selection of works by Béchir Boussandel, Slimen Elkamel, and Aïcha Snoussi.
Béchir Boussandel's works explore the interplay between materiality, gesture, and abstraction through a painterly and sculptural practice characterized by organic, tactile forms.
Slimen Elkamel creates drawings and installations that explore themes of marginality, memory, and identity through hybrid, symbolic worlds.
Aïcha Snoussi develops fictional narratives that combine drawing, writing, and imagined cartographies, engaging with questions of power, memory, and the representation of marginalized bodies.
