Lin Wenjie is a graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, an essential reference for any future Chinese student when choosing a school of fine arts. She was a pupil of LIU Xiaodong, internationally recognized as one of China's finest contemporary painters. Her visit to France was the trigger that activated her fruitful reflection on painting. Despite her unshakeable confidence in painting, she is destabilized by her marginal status in the field of Western contemporary art, particularly in view of the absence, or even denial, of learning painting techniques at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, which she entered in 2011. She discovers that her years spent mastering techniques and materials are considered old-fashioned or incongruous in the face of the primacy of the artist's "innate creativity".
Although reluctant to accept this, her natural curiosity keeps her mind open to manifestations of this contemporary art thinking. In parallel with his compulsory work for the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Wenjie Lin continues his personal research in painting, whose subtle metamorphoses the viewer will notice, the fruit of his reflections in response to these new parameters.
